One full day in the Orcia Valley discovering this wonderful landscape that has been declared UNESCO heritage in 2004. We will start from the Monte-Oliveto Abbey, an ancient monastery dating back to 1313, which is nestling real art treasures. We will enjoy here a wine-tasting of wines produced by the monks themselves.
We will then move over towards Pienza, through stunning landscapes of rolling hills, cypresses, vineyards, and breathtaking shades of gold and greens.
Pienza is a real renaissance jewel, a town built and conceived by Pope Pius Piccolomini in 1405; Pienza is also renowned for its “pecorino” cheese production. We will stop in Pienza for a light lunch.
In the afternoon, we will move towards Montalcino, the wine-town, surrounded by its famous vineyards. We will enjoy here a wine-tasting of the excellent Brunello red wine. Some free time in town before going back.
