A trip to discover the genius of Leonardo. We will go along the paths of his life and some of his works in order to better understand this personality still nowadays so full of mystery. . Leonardo, one of the main characters of Florentine Renaissance, can be considered a scientist constantly searching for truth. That truth that he was depicting in his paintings still full of mystery, where he was inserting messages full of symbolisms. His researches led him to open fights with the Church, but this didn’t stop him, as he was protected by some very important families such as the Medici’s but by the King of France as well, Francesco the Ist, who invited him at his court and where Leonardo spent his last years before dying. All symbolisms and mysteries of Leonardo are so fascinating to be inspiring Dan Brown’s novel, The Da VInci Code, and the homomymous movie.

DAY 1. Free arrival at Hotel Villa Godenano in Castellina in Chianti. Accomodation in a double room with breakfast. Late afternoon , guided tour of Castellina in Chianti. Free time. You will be sitting by the pool or walking along the magnificent park of the villa.
DAY 2. Going towards Leonardo Da Vinci birth town: VINCI. This stunning little hamlet nestled within its historical walls, from which the castle that was belonging to the Guidi family is still leaning out, was the birth town of Leonardo. We will tour the hamlet and the birth house of the genius and we will then go to the Leonardo museum which preserves about 80 scale models of his engineering, architectonic and technological works. A stop then at the panoramic terrace so to be enchanted by the Montalbano hills which were of inspiration for the “maestro”, as you can see in many of his paintings.
In the afternoon we will then stop for a wine-tasting at the Vignamaggio Villa. This Villa was belonging to the family Gherardini, a family tied to Leonardo because the daughter Lisa Gherardini it is very likely to be the woman depicted in the famous Monnalisa. We will tour the cellars of the Villa and taste their wine along with some tyical tuscan salamis. Going back to Castellina.
DAY 3. You can’t skip a day in Florence, hunting for Leonardo’s works, well preserved in many museums of the town. After a walking tour of the historical centre, we will visit the Uffizi Gallery where we will see The Adoration of the Three Kings, the Annunciation and other works of the “maestro”. There is an entire room only for Leonardo. In the afternoon then, we will visit the Palazzo Vecchio Museum, to discover the mystery of the Anghiari battle, a painting hidden in the big ‘500 salon.
Going back to Castellina.
